I draw inspiration from the rhythmic patterns of the natural world to create a soul connection through art. It is a reminder to me as I meditate on these patterns that nature is both physical and revealing but also an integral part of our journey towards self-awareness or metamorphosis.
Some of the most significant spiritual experiences for me growing up and later as an artist have been out in the field, in the woods or non-ecclesial spaces. The relationship between ourselves and the environment is something that is explored in my original series of paintings, “Wings Apart”, poetry and installation pieces and asks how we can adapt to nature rather than being in opposition to forces of change – the seen and the unseen- around us.
In my work as an artist I try to use the most beautiful images and allow them to develop on their own. I have a reservoir of the meaning of peaceful meditation and the journey through the natural world within and without that I utilize.
